PNE wins Leonardo Transfer of Innovation funding to transfer to Europe its highly successful volunteer management development programme.

PNE lends its fourth million pound, benefitting 1,094 businesses since the loan funds started.

voluntaryskills.com wins the title of 'Best Voluntary Sector Website' at the North East Digital Awards.

The National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA) presents PNE with a prestigious award for 'Commercial Partnerships' in recognition of its long term business relationship with Royal Dutch Shell.

2007
Shell LiveWIRE International, managed by PNE, celebrates 25 years of inspiring enterprise around the world. The programme has helped over five million young people globally to explore the option of starting a business.

PNE's Woods Pottery development in Ouseburn, Newcastle wins awards for 'Best Refurbishment' and 'Lord Mayor's Special Regeneration' at the Newcastle Lord Mayor's Design Awards.

2006
PNE's Pink Lane business centre is voted one of the world's top ten 'Science based incubators' by the Science Alliance and Centre for Strategy and Evaluation Services (CSES).

2004
PNE is appointed manager of the Workers' Safety Adviser (WSA) Challenge Fund on behalf of the Health & Safety Executive.

PNE wins Northern Rock Foundation and ESF funding of over £2.5million to deliver the Strengthening Structures programme to the voluntary and community sector across North East.

2003
PNE's voluntary sector team assists local voluntary and community groups to access financial support totaling over £1million.

2002
PNE becomes the first ever not for profit organisation to feature in the Ward Hadaway 'Fastest 50', coming in at 14th in the list of fastest growing companies in the North East. 

The Small Business Minister launches Shell LiveWIRE's innovative website for would-be young entrepreneurs, providing 24/7 access to an online one-stop shop for the most comprehensive and up-to-date business start up information on the Internet.

1990
North East Work Space (NEWS) is launched to provide incubator workspace for small businesses. By 2001, NEWS houses contained 107 small businesses, employing 650 people.

1989
Design Works, formerly a 72,000 sq.ft. Burton's clothing factory, opens as a centre of excellence to promote the importance of design and marketing. Its studio space was fully let within the first 11 months

Shell UK appoint PNE as UK managers of LiveWIRE, the national youth enterprise initiative.
