As founders of the first youth enterprise centre,
PNE has always put young people at the heart of the enterprise agenda.
In 1986 Shell UK retained PNE to manage their new youth
enterprise programme known as LiveWIRE.
From speculative beginnings, Shell LiveWIRE now plays a leading
role in the support provided for youth enterprise in the UK,
and increasingly on the international scene.
With bases in Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and the English regions,
the LiveWIRE team works closely with local practitioners
building an infrastructure of partnerships
to help young people develop their business ideas.
Proactive publicity keeps role models in the spotlight.
Young people are encouraged to see starting a business
as a viable career option.
Shell UK teams up with local sponsors to provide cash awards at district,
regional, national and UK levels.
The Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award is an established
part of the enterprise calendar.
An interactive website enables young people to consider all the options
as they think through their business idea.

In 1999 Shell International invited PNE
to develop LiveWIRE as one of its Global Community Investment programmes.
Comprehensive feasibility studies ensure
that programmes will effectively address local economic and cultural needs.
Local partnerships are established to ensure the sustainability of each programme.

Egypt, Pilot Programmes
