Why We’re Proud to Sponsor the IWCYC Challenge

The If We Can You Can Challenge (IWCYC) is back for 2017 and we’re pleased to announce that PNE Group will be supporting the event once again!

Every year, IWCYC brings together the region’s finest budding entrepreneurs with enterprise experts and successful business minds, while also providing the opportunity to showcase the entrepreneurial strength of the North East region.

Currently in its ninth year, the competition has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs to take their business to the next level. Last year, Caroline Davis, founder of Tumbles and Grumbles, a pediatric first aid training business, was named the winner of the challenge.

Speaking about her win to BQ, she said: “I really enjoyed being part of the If We Can You Can Challenge because, as the name suggests, its pioneering and proves that anyone can make a success out of their dream with hard work.

“I am so thrilled to win the Challenge but it was really unexpected. I have an unwavering passion in my vision and belief that my business will continue to grow, but when other people see that too it is really special.”

Last year, PNE Group sponsored entrepreneur Natalie Diver, owner of the superfood supplement company, Oh My Glow. Natalie joined the PNE Group team at the 2016 Final Ceremony, which gave fourteen start-ups the opportunity to pitch their business in one minute to tables hosted by enterprise agencies, local universities and private businesses supporting entrepreneurial talent.

This year, the Challenge is focused on three main categories: businesses that have high growth-potential, companies that will make a big social impact, and a ‘best business idea’ category. There will be three rounds with the Ideas Prize final held in October and the grand final in November.

Speaking about last year’s event, Gillian Marshall, Chief Executive of the Entrepreneurs Forum, said: “The people who enter If We Can You Can are the job and wealth creators of the future, making it the perfect platform for spotting new talent, supporting emerging entrepreneurs and setting them on the road to build a vibrant North East buzzing with exciting new enterprises and fresh thinking entrepreneurs who believe: If They Can, I Can!”

Charlotte Windebank, Managing Director of First Face to Face, also added: “Last year we were able to reach out to 123 new business in our region and received over 100 offers of support from the North East business community. This year with our partners like PNE Group and the North East LEP’s Growth Hub we are going to create more impact and most importantly a lasting legacy for these businesses to thrive in our communities.”
