How We Work
Funded from a variety of private, charitable and public sources,
the PNE Group consists of a number of independent companies
limited by guarantee. As a not-for-profit organisation,
any trading surplus is re-invested in development work.

Through our work we aim to help enterprising people,
and communities to develop their ideas, and thereby to
create wealth and employment where it is most needed.
Our success is based on a sound understanding of best
practice, married with practical experience of working
with small businesses and community projects.
By understanding the corporate social responsibility
agenda we build relevant programmes, and foster
public/private partnerships. This partnership approach is
reinforced by the PNE board of directors, which is drawn
from all sectors.
Clearly, the knowledge, creativity and hard work of our
staff is absolutely critical. Investors in People (IiP) recognition
means that we attract and retain motivated people.
ISO9001 certified quality management systems ensure
key processes work properly, and are reviewed regularly.

Company limited by guarantee.
PNE is an independent,
not-for-profit organisation,
recognised by the UK government as a Local Economic Development Agency.
LiveWIRE Youth Enterprise
Associate company (limited by guarantee) set up in 1986.
Its primary activity is the management of Shell LiveWIRE.
LiveWIRE (Northern Ireland Ltd), and Intilaaqah (Oman),
have been established.

North East Workspace Ltd
Wholly owned PNE subsidiary company,
established in 1990 to refurbish,
provide and manage incubator workspace for new and growing businesses.
Newcastle Youth Enterprise Centre
Charitable company,
which aims to encourage young people to consider starting a business,
and provides them with the appropriate assistance.
Northern Youth Venture Fund
Charitable trust set up in 1987
whose sole object is to assist young people training for,
and wishing to start their own business,
primarily through the provision of low interest loans.
Silicon Alley
Wholly owned subsidiary,
established to manage "Big Netty",
a broadband internet service provider,
which provides high speed internet access to all NEWS tenants.
