PNE Sponsors Social Impact Entrepreneurship Award
Last month PNE Group were the proud sponsors of the If We Can You Can (IWCYC) Awards, one of the region’s most exciting start-up business competitions for young entrepreneurs.
The Awards boasted fifteen IWCYC finalists, one hundred and fifty guests from the North East business community and two worthy award winners. Award ceremony attendees gave sixty pledges of support to IWCYC challenge entrants, along with record-breaking raffle entries to support an enterprise-discovery project for young people. Every finalist pitched to the fifteen tables in the room, with votes cast for the businesses making the biggest social impact and with the highest growth potential.
PNE took to the stage to present the Biggest Social Impact Award, which went to MiCarePlan. MiCarePlan utilises AI technology to enable an improvement in the delivery of high-quality care by reducing the time carers spend creating records and allowing trends in case files to be picked up faster.
PNE Enterprise alumnus Sarah Grant was one of the finalists taking part in the Awards, with her business My Healthcare Recruit making the final three in the Biggest Social Impact category. Her business offers innovative, user-friendly technology which streamlines processes in the healthcare recruitment sector.
Sarah commented, “It was a privilege to be a finalist in the IWCYC awards. It was such a positive atmosphere of growth, with so much support in the room. It was also a reminder that the North East has so much entrepreneurial talent. I feel lucky to have had access to so much business advice right from the very beginning… I honestly believe the North East is one of the best places in the country to start a business.”
The Highest Growth Potential Business, presented by the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, was awarded to StratoBooster, a Teeside based start-up which has developed technology to send small satellites into space using high altitude balloons.
Billie Jenkins, Communications Manager at PNE Group, commented, “Supporting socially impactful business and raising entrepreneurial aspiration in the North East are core to the PNE Group purpose. The If We Can You Can Awards share our passion for developing youth entrepreneurship in the region and it gives us great pride to have been sponsors for the last three years.”
This year’s grand final was hosted by Fresh Element who, together with The Circus School, delivered a night to remember for all the shortlisted finalists, partners, sponsors and the wider business community.
On the 26th October If We Can You Can also host the first Ones to Watch Final, in which My Healthcare Recruit participated in, alongside Newcastle based fashion brand Harlow and Elle, who have also received PNE Enterprise support. Judging took place during a pitch competition and exhibition at Teesside University, with Sarah taking third place.
