PNE Partners With If We Can You Can Challenge
We believe the North East is a fantastic place to do business, but more can be done to empower and champion the next generation of start-up success stories. That’s why this year we are once again proud sponsors of the If We Can You Can Challenge!
PNE Enterprise will mark their fourth year supporting the North East competition, which shines a spotlight on the region’s start-ups, inspires budding entrepreneurs to take the leap into making their idea a reality and challenges ‘the way things are done’.
Sponsoring the Biggest Social Impact Award for the second year running, PNE Enterprise are excited to identify exciting new businesses making a positive social and environmental impact.
Last year’s finalist, PNE Enterprise alumni Sarah Hall, Founder of My Healthcare Recruit, said: “It was a privilege to be a finalist in the If We Can You Can awards. It was such a positive atmosphere of growth, with so much support in the room. It was also a reminder that the North East has so much entrepreneurial talent. I feel lucky to have had access to so much business advice right from the very beginning… I honestly believe the North East is one of the best places in the country to start a business.”
This year, the Challenge is focused on four main categories: businesses that have high growth-potential, companies that will make a big social impact, and Ideas and ‘Ones to Watch’ Prizes. In addition to the chance to add to their awards cabinet, participants will also have the chance to access exciting prizes such as free office space, expert consultancy and tickets to Newcastle Start-up Week.
Billie Jenkins, Communications Manager at PNE, commented: “The team are huge supporters of the If We Can You Can Challenge and the unique opportunities it creates for start-ups in the region. Role models are essential for creating a thriving, inclusive start-up community and the Challenge connects aspiring entrepreneurs with inspirational stories at every step of the journey.”
Champions of North East enterprise have joined forces from across the region to support the Challenge, with partners including Deloitte, NEL Fund Managers; Mincoffs Solicitors; Go North East, O Communications, North East Times Magazine; GetFilm; Entrepreneurs’ Forum; Northumbria, Teesside and Sunderland Universities.
Charlotte Windebank, Founder of FIRST, the organisation behind the Awards, said: “This is the 11th year for the challenge and we have exciting things planned to celebrate entrepreneurship in the North East. We can’t thank our partners enough for their support and commitment to start-ups in the region.”
