The PNE Group 2018 Annual Report
We are delighted to announce the publication of the 2018 Annual Report, summarising the highlights of a very busy year for the Group.
Sustainability is a key theme across PNE’s work, and the 2018 Annual Report illustrates our focus on championing sustainable businesses in the North East, nationally, and internationally. Download our Annual Report 2018 to discover how PNE has made sustainability a key component across all of its enterprise programmes.
2018, saw the launch of PNE’s Sustainable Start-Up Award (SSA) – the North East’s first, and only, grant programme for innovative start-ups that are tackling issues around sustainability that support the SDGs. During 2018, the SSA provided 12 grants to Tyne & Wear based businesses, ranging from ethical beauty to fashion rental. In 2019 the awards will be expanded to cover the whole of the North East, with the aim of creating an even bigger, perpetual fund to ensure the region is a leader in sustainable enterprise support.
Other initiatives, such as Get Growing, proved hugely successful, providing high growth entrepreneurs with an exclusive package including masterclasses delivered by sustainability leaders, and access to expert advice.
Through its management of the Shell LiveWIRE programme in the UK and internationally in 17 countries, PNE has provided around £190k to support the development of low-carbon solutions to meet a range of sustainability challenges.
Our work with RBS has continued to create sustainable opportunities for people across the UK – distributing £10m to community projects which supported just under 150,000 people and the creation of just over 1,900 new businesses.
2018 saw PNE’s plans progress to create our eco-friendly workspace in Ouseburn, which will provide a sustainable home for expanding digital start-ups.
In a welcome endorsement, it’s great to see that PNE’s drive to support sustainable enterprise was recognised by the National Enterprise Network, who awarded PNE the prestigious “Enterprise Team of the Year”.
PNE’s achievements in 2018 will be a catalyst for even more exciting developments during 2019, continuing PNE’s work to ensure that the North East is the best place to start, run and grow a sustainable business.
