North East Workspace (NEWS) is Launched

In 1990, North East Workspace (NEWS) was launched, a property company based in Newcastle, offering sector specific incubation, start-up friendly business agreements and access to the local PNE Enterprise support services. From an original £40,000 investment, the company has grown to a value of over £3m. Today, NEWS boasts a diverse portfolio containing seven freehold buildings and covering almost 50,000 sq ft, which houses 41 businesses, including Northumbrian Water House, a converted 19thC Post Office, shopfronts, a Victorian Pottery, a converted 18thC bakery and several Grade listed and protected structures. To this day, the venture continues to be a strong part of PNE Group’s work, with plans to construct new, eco-friendly offices on a third Ouseburn site planned for 2017.
